Day 252: Stuff I've Bought

Here are a few of the things I bought last night (yep was the return of the Thursday night shop for me)

As you can see, the baby stuff is pink!!! Yay!! Only problem now is that my dad doesn't want to know what sex his first grandchild will be before it is born. How the hell am I meant to keep a secret like that?! It's well known that I'm not the worlds best secret keeper (tho I've somehow managed to keep a few crackers lol) so will have to try extra hard with this one. And this is everything I have bought it so far:

Tonight I went to the movies with my homies, Damo and Dan, to see Date Night. I didn't have a lot of expectations for it but I thought it was generally really funny with a few hysterical moments in the middle. If you're after some light entertainment, I'd highly recommend it.

Day 251: China Glaze Stella

How pretty is this nailpolish?? China Glaze is fast becoming my favourite nailpolish brand by far!

It's hard to tell in the photo but there is a lot of depth to the colour. There is almost a fuschia shimmer base then medium toned purple and a darker almost black purple. Love it!!

After I get home from shopping tonight (yep the Thursday night shop is back on after getting some fabulous news that there will be a baby GIRL joining our family soon, some shopping is in order!) I will redo mani but couldn't go without blogging this gorgeous colour.

Day 250: I have Powderfinger tickets!!

That's right kids, I managed to get my hands on tickets to both the Sydney and Brisbane shows!!! Yeewww!

I had a major freakout when I didn't get tickets in the first pre-release at 9am. There may have even been tears lol. Thankfully my love of Twitter alerted me to the fact that they had released more tickets and I scored tix to the Sydney show.

The next pre-release was to go on sale at midday, right in the middle of a meeting. Boooo. I lined up my lovely friend Zoe to buy them for me, but they moved the time back to 2pm and I was able to score tix for Brissie. Represent!!

I am beyond stoked, now just have to wait 4.5 months til the shows!

PS - massive boooo to the dirty mofo's who put tix on eBay at triple the retail price within 20 mins of the sale. Ridiculous.

Day 249: Yum Cha!

Man I love yum cha!

I met up with some of the lovely ladies from my old work today as I hadn't seen them in months and I was missing them heaps. Plus it was a great way to ease back into work after a long weekend!

It's always great to catch up with the girls and here about what they've all been up to. It's hard to coordinate 8 peoples schedules across 3 separate workplaces so lunches are not as frequent as they used to be unfortunately.

Greenwood Seafood Restaurant does yum cha daily and is always a good experience. Check it out if you're in North Sydney.

Day 248: Cooking with Curtis

I wasn't feeling great today and decided to have a chilled out day at home, which turned out to be exactly what I needed.

I did some washing, washed my hair, put on a face mask, did some cleaning, watched Glee and Gossip Girl and then decided to get my cook on. Phew!

Today I decided to make two things from Curtis Stone's Relaxed Cooking. I made the Corn & Bacon Muffins as well as the Chicken & Leek Pie.

Both were really tasty, though I think the pie needed more chicken and maybe a bit less seeded mustard for my taste.

Day 247: the Bite

I met up with my lovely friend Jacinta for some lunch abd a spot of shopping at Parra today. We had lunch at this fabulous little place called The Bite on Church St which does amazing pizzas.

I had been there before and had the most incredible pizza called Great Barrier Reef and I couldn't go past it again. It has sweet chilli sauce, mashed sweet potato, prawns, chicken, cheese and sour cream. It reminds me of the best pizza I've had at California Pizza Kitchen in Anaheim which was the first time I'd ever had sour cream (and guacamole) on a pizza. If you ever get to the US and are after casual dining, check out CPK - you definitely won't be disappointed.

Shopping was a bit of a dismal failure (although my credit card is purporting it as a success) but I did manage to find a large ceramic pale pink mixing bowl for $5 - score!!

I had dinner tonight with Damo and Dan at Peacock Garden in Crows Nest. Didn't take any pics unforch, but the food was great so I'll probably end up there again soon. I can't even begin to say how much I love spending time with these two boys, they're amazing and I love them dearly.

My fortune cookie was interesting tonight, it read:
"a bird does not sing because it has an answer, a bird sings because it has a song"

Day 246: North Sydney Art

I walk past this statue nearly every day on my way to work and thought that I just couldn't handle not seeing it on the weekend as well, so I when I went for a walk I had to drop past and make sure it was ok.

Or you know, I was just walking past and thought it might make an interesting photo. Whatevs.

Day 245: I don't think you're ready for this jelly

In our big nailpolish order, I got this gorgeous China Glaze polish called Innocence. It's what's termed as a 'jelly' formula which I have never tried before.

It's quite fascinating (well for all of a couple minutes) when putting it on as it really does have a gel like texture and if you don't apply it really carefully you end up with areas that are considerably raised. It's a bit like when you get gel nails applied. I have had this done once and have sworn never again. Thankfully I don't bite my nails anymore and they are quite strong so I don't need fakes.

It's a really pretty milky colour and suits it's name perfectly. But as my beloved Britney Spears would say, "I'm not that innocent" hehe

Day 244: pance in a tree

I went to a training course today on managing multiple projects with 2 of my colleagues. The course was quite interesting and I think I learnt a couple of good tips - now to put them into practice!

The three of us went to the Albion Hotel for lunch and it was nice to spend some time chatting outside of work. From the table we were at, we could see these pance in a tree. How the eff does a pair of pance get into a tree??

Caught up with an old friend after the course finished which was lots of fun! Even though I did take some photos, pance in a tree is more intriguing hehe.

Ps - I know I spelt pants wrong, but it's an in joke amongst some friends.

Day 243: Rainbow 2

I was running late to work again today (now there is something new!) and was kinda in a crankypance mood because of it (I'd been going so well!) but this little rainbow from some glass in our apartment made me smile. So pretty and I'm sure it's there most days that the sun is out but I've never noticed it before.

Sometimes, it really is the small things...

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Day 242: Spotlights

Tonight I was walking home through North Sydney and could see these random spotlights circling around the area. Pretty exciting stuff for North Sydney!

From what I can tell it has something relating to the new HSBC branch as the logo was shined up onto some of the buildings along with the regular spotlight. I love the way that the light was shined through the tree onto the building. Very pretty.

Asides from that today was a bit same old but I did have lunch with one of my favourite people who may have some very exciting news soon! Love hearing that good things are happening for my friends!

Now I'm waiting for Masterchef to start - I lead such an exciting life!

Day 241: Stuff

So I mentioned that I went shopping on Thursday night and this is what I bought.

Having a serious case of buyers remorse that's for sure. I think I might return the leather jacket actually as it's not exactly what I wanted but I bought it because I hadn't found anything else. I think I'd rather not have one at all if I can't get the perfect one.

The second lot of buyers remorse came with the items you can see there from Priceline. As with many other women, I have trouble walking out of Priceline without buying something.

The stuff on the top right incl the patent tote bag came as a free gift if you spent $50 on products by certain brands. I spent substantially more than that abd when I got home and opened the bag I was actually disappointed as I didn't need or want the majority of the items in it and probably won't use the bag. Ooops.

Loving my new handbag, headband and cupcake papers though so it's not all bad :-)

Day 240: The Union

After a quiet weekend studying for an Intellectual Property exam (I passed btw!) I met up With my friend Robyn at my local, The Union.

As (bad) luck would have it the footy was on, so I spent the afternoon drinking 5 Seeds and watching the Sharkies get smashed by Brisbane. Awesome.

Day 239: Choc Chip Cookies

Despite the fact that I am always making cupcakes, I am generally not a baker. I stick to cupcakes cos I am good at them (tickets lol) but have been wanting to venture out a little and try my hand at biscuits (mainly so I can ice them in pretty designs with royal icing). I decided to start with something relatively easy first to see how it went and thought choc chip cookies should be easy enough to handle.

I searched online for various recipes and came across this one from Exclusively Food which seemed easy enough - http://www.exclusivelyfood.com.au/2007/11/chocolate-chip-cookie-recipe_24.html

The recipe was really simple and easy to follow and I had no dramas getting it to the final mixture stage. This is where the problems started though - I ended up eating some of the cookie dough! Oops! I still had enough left to make 30 or so cookies, but I didn't feel like eating them after the dough. The other issue was that I didn't really bake the cookies for long enough. I am not a fan of crunchy biscuits (or any foods really) so was happy for them to be soft and chewy, but think other people might not enjoy them being so soft.

I think our oven is a bit out of sorts too and doesn't heat properly as after baking for 15 mins, they were still super soft and prob undercooked to most people. Guess that means I'll just have to make another batch and keep this lot for myself!

Uh Oh....

So this morning cos I was up early I figured I'd make a start on adding labels to all of my blog posts when I discovered I have made a few errors in the numbering. Holy crap!!

One is way back on day 28, then in the 100's I skipped a whole 10 days (in numbering only, the days of posts are correct). It's kinda hard to work out what the hell happened around day 28 as that was before I knew how to change the date of posts when i got slack and didn't post everyday, so there are 6 posts that have the same date. Fixing that up for all the old posts too!

Will go through and edit but it might take awhile, so apologies if it's a bit all over the place for a few days.

Mel xx

Day 238: Sleep Cycle

Anyone who knows me will know that I love nothing more than to get my shop on on a Thursday night and that is what I did last night. I'll show pics of what I bought tomorrow, but for now I wanted to show a screenshot of a new app I've been using on my phone called Sleep Cycle.

After the retreat, a busy day at the office and a big shopping adventure I got a really good sleep which is quite rare as I tend to wake up a lot during the night.

The idea of Sleep Cycle is that you set an alarm clock for whatever time you want to wake up in the morning and the app monitors your sleep through the night and wakes you up during the lightest part of your sleep so may be up to 30 mins before your set alarm time).

I have noticed that it has seemed much easier to get out of bed over the past 11 days but the thing I love most about it is the graphs! The one above showed me dreaming around 3am which is hilarious cos I actually remember the dream (I don't usually) and it involved me threatening to stab someone in the hand with scissors!! #hellopsycho !! I've never had a violent dream before so no idea where it came from. Maybe I should google dream meanings.

Below is a more accurate representation of my sleep and what most nights look like (although not the hours, I seem to bet around 6-7 generally).

Day 237: Nailpolish Haul

My gorgeous friends Tegan, Shanna, Val and I did a joint nailpolish order through Transdesign and this is what we got!

Was such a nice surprise when I got into the office today to see a box of polish sitting on my desk!! Weeeeee!! I think it took less than a week to be delivered from the US which is ridiculously fast.

I think about 12 of those are mine (not that I need any more) and I cannot wait to test them out over the weekend. Very jealous of some of the colours the girls got, think there might be another order going in soon hehe.

Day 236: retreat day 3

After a super busy and gun day/night yesterday it was really quite nice to wake up to this view from my room in the morning.

I never get out to the country (not that we were actually in the country, there was just a bit of bushland where we were) so I liked waking up to birds chirping and that distinct clean air smell.

I locked myself out of my room when I went to grab some water but thankfully the lovely Liz was there to go get me a spare key from reception as, whilst I was dressed, I had no shoes on and no desire to walk on the freezing cold concrete!!

On the way to breakfast I stopped by this cute little pond area to take some pics but only had 10 mins to get from there, to check out, grab toast & be back in the conference room for our final day.

The final day was work, work, work but really valuable. I learnt a lot more about the company, its strategic goals and a lot of internal focus, programs, strategy docs, KPI's, etc. Obviously I can't say too much haha.

I was exhausted when I got home from the retreat and was asleep by 7pm. Virtually unheard of for me.

Day 235: retreat day 2

This isn't exactly the best photo of me, but whatevs, it's part of the story!

After a big morning starting at 8am (I sometimes am not even awake at 8am on weekdays cos I live so close to work) we headed out of the centre we were staying at to go rock climbing! Woooo!

Was lots of fun and was really good in assisting with building good relationships within the team and promoting teamwork to achieve a desired result. I managed to take 200 photos lol. Here is just one...
After a quick trip back to our accommodation to change, shower and have a few drinks we went to dinner at Limani's in Narrabeen. The food there was fantastic and I'd highly rec going there if you live in the area.We had amazing mixed seafood & Mediterranean platters to start with, which I followed with grilled barramundi and a citrus tart. Very yummy!

We were each required to wear a hat that either had a story to it or was a reflection of our personalities. Now, despite me having an awful lot of hair accessories, I am not really a hat fan. I've got about 6- a Powderfinger train driver hat, a pink pimp fedora, a Sharkies cap, races hat and 2 cloches. None of them really have a story so I decided my silver sequin Minnie mouse ears fit the bill.

They were reflective of my love if cutesy, sparkly things but also had a story from my US holiday to Disneyland last year.

Dinner was lots of fun but most people headed to dinner straight after we got back as they were exhausted from rock climbing.

Day 234: Retreat day 1

As part of our corporate team retreat/conference we were required to bring along a poster outlining our family & friends.

I had a few different ideas but it wasn't until I started pulling pictures together that I realised I had too many ideas for such a small space. Kinda funny considering I initially thought I wouldn't have enough material and had wanted to do a general poster about things I like.

All along I had wanted to set out my poster in 2 sections - 1 for Sydney and 1 for Brisbane to reflect two different parts of my life, however it ended up being easier to break it into a family section and a friends section.

It was really interesting to read everyone else's posters and learn about their backgrounds. Everyone did a great job with them!!

Day 233: So's Ya Face!

Ever since I was a little girl I have been a fan of rugby league. My dad took me to my first game when I was 5, and it was the Broncos vs Souths, in the Broncos first season in the national comp. My dad was a Roosters fan and as I was a tomboy I went with a blue team and chose the Sharkies. Possibly the biggest mistake ever!! I love them, but god damn they break my heart over and over.

Today was no different. I met up with Dan, Sarah & Alex at Brookvale Oval to watch the Sharkies vs Manly. Cronulla started off well scoring in the first few minutes. It was all downhill after that unfortunately, with Manly winning the game 40-12. Thanks Tony Archer, you are a douche!

Before the game some stupid Manly supporter muttered under his breath at me "the Sharks are shit" and I retaliated with a "So's ya face" haha. Suck it!! This was probably the highlight of the day tbh.

High fives to the CSSC for their loud singing and support for the team! You guys rock.

Day 232: Hyde Park

I have lived in Sydney for 4.5 years now and until yesterday had never set foot in Hyde Park. Not sure what it is, but I never seem to be at that side of the City.

Today I had to pick up tickets for the AFL and with Ticketek being just around the corner from the park, I thought I might take a little wander. I didn't go too far as I was short on time but will definitely go back sometime soon and explore it a bit further.Thankfully it won't take as long to explore as Central park in NYC does!

Awards Season - Round Two

The idea behind this award is to name your top 10 blogs and top 10 things that you love. I would struggle to narrow it down to a top 10 but also to put them in any kind of order. So, considering I have already listed 15 blogs in my previous award post, I have simply listed another 10 that I enjoy reading (at least 2 of which should have been in my previous awards but were somehow overlooked - oops!)
  1. Farrah and Wayne's blog is a 365 day blog dedicated to their first year of marriage. I cannot believe I overlooked including their blog in my last awards as this is one that I check regularly and always love hearing about their journey.
  2. A Letter from London - my wonderful friend Jamie's blog about his new life in London. Jamie & I used to be flatmates and I miss him heaps so it is always wondeful to be able to read up on what he is up to
  3. Too Much Blush - love Em's makeup looks! She is such a gorgeous girl and her blush is always perfect! She has a fabulous makeup collection and I am always excited to see what products she is using.
  4. Not Quite Nigella - a very talented cook who posts mouthwatering photos of food she has made herself as well as that from many of Sydney's restaurants. When I am after a new restaurant, I always refer to NQN.
  5. Bakerella - home of the marvellous Cake Pops! It was recently announced that there will be a Bakerella book coming out in the near future and I am beside myself with excitement!
  6. Scrangie - my favourite nailpolish blog! I am constantly in awe of her gorgeous nails and perfect application. Very envious of her mad skillz!
  7. Lady Melbourne - I am a fairly new reader to her blog, but I think she is a stunning and interesting young lady who has a wonderful sense of style.
  8. People of Walmart - I'm not sure if this is classified as a blog as such, but is more a photo journal of some of the crazy getups people wear to Walmart! I am fascinated by Walmart for some reason, though was a bit disappointed when I fianlly got to go to one haha.
  9. The Beauty Look Book - wonderful reviews of beauty products. I always love the colour/tonal comparisons of products, it hs helped me make a decision on the right shade of eyeshadow a few times
  10. Sephora Blog - I heart Sephora, so naturally love its blog.

Top 10 things I love (this is mofo hard!):
  1. My family and friends - goes without saying really! I have been blessed with some amazing people in my life and am very grateful for every one of them.
  2. Brisbane - having moved away 5 years ago, I definitely appreciate it a lot more now and love going back home.
  3. Flying - I know many people are scared of it but I enjoy it. I love that flying takes you to another place fairly quickly, whether it be a fantastic holiday destination or returning home, the feeling of touching down is fantastic.
  4. Baking and cooking, especially cupcakes. I love the entire process from measuring the ingredients to doing final decorations.
  5. Mess - I can't help it! I am never going to be one of those super tidy, orderly people. I love a bit of mess haha
  6. Accessories - I have more than I will ever need, but always less than I want hehe. There are just so many gorgeous items available.
  7. The internet - my gosh, what did we do before it??
  8. Magazines, blogs and trashy books - I love a bit of celeb goss and chicklit. Lame and should be embarassing but I just can't enough
  9. Reality tv - as above! If it's of the reality genre, I'll watch it.
  10. That giddy, tingly feeling you occasionally get, randomly, that is of pure excitement and happiness. I got this today when I was walking around doing nothing spesh, was a lovely little surprise.

it's Awards Season!

I have been tagged in 2 awards in the last few days - yay!

Thank you to the gorgeous Sydney Shop Girl for the two awards below:

Rules:

1. State 7 things about yourself.
2. Pass the ‘Creative award’ to 7 bloggers.
3. Thank the person that nominated you; link to the person that gave you the award.
4. Pass the ‘Beautiful blogger’ award on to 15 bloggers you’ve discovered and think are fantastic.
5. Contact said blogs and let them know, they’ve won.

Seven things about me:
  1. I feel like I'm a bit of a geek at times, though I am nowhere near smart enough to stake that claim
  2. I used to be the biggest tomboy ever when I was a kid. I used to love making mud pies (as you do!) and playing with cars under our old house. Fun times!
  3. I am now in love with pretty, girly, sparkley things and I don't see this ever changing
  4. I find it hard to tell jokes and relay funny stories to people as I cannot stop laughing myself to get the story out.
  5. I am always looking for something more or something different to what I have or am currently doing. This is generally a good thing (imo) but not always
  6. I love rollercoasters and thrill rides! I am usually terrified until I get on, then I love it, jump back in line and am terrified all over again!
  7. My friends are the most amazing group of people ever and my friends numbers have possibly tripled over the past 2 years. It's because I am so awesome!
Tagging up to 15 blogs that I enjoy:
  1. of course, Sydney Shop Girl must be tagged. I adore her blog and am always in awe of the stunning photos that she takes.
  2. Cabs are for Kissing - the blog of an NYC taxi driver. It is fascinating the things people talk about in the back of a taxi
  3. the gorgeous Sian who is a relatively new friend of mine and is always such a positive and happy person
  4. Donna who is also a new friend and such a beautiful person inside and out.
  5. Nikki's Flair to Remember - it is possibly the most visually beautiful blog I have ever seen
  6. Realestalker - real estate porn. Enough said.
  7. Sophia's BFF Productions - which I first came across after discovering Sophia was a member of The Hills' team. She posts a lot of random youtube videos which are very entertaining.
  8. Shannon's Sweet Valley High Blog - gold! she is reviewing all the old SVH books. Takes me back to my early teen years
  9. Kiki Chaos is a reasonably new blog but I am smitten with it. I adore the background and layout and always look forward to what she has to say.
  10. Faux Fuschia - she is fabulous on so many different levels. She inspires me to not have chipped nailpolish and to declutter.
  11. Grab Your Fork - an amazing Sydney food blog with stunning food porn photos
  12. Tasted by Two - another fabulous Sydney food blog that I have recently discovered. It has some of the best food photos I have come across.
  13. HillsFreak - where I get all of my deets on The Hills, The City and ex Laguna Beach castmembers
  14. Crumbs and Doilies - what I want my cupcakes to be when they grow up. They really put mine to shame
  15. Jacqueline's A Brilliant Brunette has some amazing makeup looks. Some of them are really creative and I love seeing what concepts she comes with

Day 231: Today my heart is broken

So hearing the news that your favourite band for the last 16 years is usually considered to be great news. Hearing that after that tour they are disbanding is the worst news I have received in a very long time.

I can't recall the exact number of times I have seen them live, but it has been quite a few, many of which have been at festivals. The first time was back at Homebake in 1999 on the last day of schoolies, and the most recent was at the Big Day Out a couple months ago. These guys are truly amazing live!! I last mentioned them on my blog here - http://mel365ish.blogspot.com/2010/01/day-154-big-day-out-round-2.html

I feel crushed today, it's like the end of an era. Powderfinger are kind of my 'go-to' band, they're songs never fail to pick up any mood I'm having (even if I'm in the best mood ever, they still make it better).

They have been the soundtrack to so many of my life's experiences, and has been shared with some amazing friends. There are many of their songs that I can't listen to without being reminded of an event or a person in my life.

It's pretty safe to say that today sucks like a mofo.

Day 230: Deleted

I have deleted today's post about a missing person after receiving an update that the person had tragically passed away. I didn't feel right about leaving the missing persons poster on here, nor did it seem appropriate to replace it with something else. Very sad news.

Day 229: I love your rainbow...

Oh no it's winter!!

Some of you will get the reference above, some won't but it is one of my favourite lines from one of my favourite songs by one of my favourite bands.

Today I played arts & crafts in the office and painted this (not so lovely) rainbow. It is going to be part of an awesome activity that the lovely T is organising.

I've never been on a corporate retreat before but am really excited for it! I work with a fantastic group of people and am looking forward to getting to know them all better.

It really does feel like winter today in Sydney btw. Can't wait to go home, snuggle in bed and watch Gossip Girl!

Day 228: They see me rollin....

They hatin!!!!

My gorgeous friend Makia sent me this pic yesterday afternoon cos I was having a bit of a shitty day (dammit fake Monday) and she knows how much I love the series of "they see me rollin, they hatin" pics!

The phrase initially came from the Chamillionaire song Ridin Dirty, but I have no idea why people picked up on it and it's now become it's own little craze.

I actually quite like the song which my little gangsta cousins introduced me to 3 or 4 years ago. Weird Al Yankovich has done a cover/parody of the song called "White & Nerdy" (it rhymes with ridin dirty for those a little slow on the uptake!) which is really quite funny. There is even a chipmunk version!

This definitely put me in a much better mood, thanks so much M! Love you! It's so great to have such an amazing group of friends who are always there when I need them.

Day 227: cupcakes & Miley

I made these Easter cupcakes for my lovely work friends for tomorrow. Will help make fake Monday a little better hehe.

Today D and I went to see the new Miley movie, The Last Song - it was soooooo cute!! I freakin love Miley hehe. Poor D was nearly the only boy in the cinema and there were lots of teenage girls. Kinda made it more fun though as there were lots of ooh's, ahh's, omg's and phwoar's whenever Liam Hemsworth had his shirt off, when they kissed, when they sing in the car, when they play in the mud, when Miley saves some baby turtles & when her little bro is the cutest little thing ever.

I loved this movie, it had a lot more depth to it than I was expecting and the storyline didn't just focus on Miley and Liam's character. If you see it, see it with your girlfriends for a fun, giggly, cute sesh!

Day 226: Easter Sunday

I was inspired by my gorgeous friends Donna and Andrea to make some hot cross buns yesterday. The girls had each made the traditional style but as I'm not a fan of dried fruit (except for banana chips) I thought I'd try some chocolate ones.

They were alright, but were a little denser than store bought ones. It's because the dough didn't double in size when left and I think this was due to the fact that it was bloody cold in Sydney today. Dough seems to need to be in a warm place to double properly. Not to worry, these hot cross buns were delicious this morning (no I didn't eat all 5! I had 1 1/2)

These are the Easter eggs that I bought for myself! I pretty much get the same eggs every year from my family, which suits me just fine as I am definitely a creature of habit. If I like something, I stick to it. Plus, Red Tulip chocolate is only available at Easter so I always need to have an Elegant Rabbit.

I do understand, appreciate and respect that Easter is not just about chocolate eggs and hot cross buns, however I am not religious hence why I haven't made any reference to religious meanings or activities.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!

Day 225: Another part of Sydney Harbour

Today I met up with my lovely friend, Robyn, to grab some lunch and go for a bit of a walk around the city. We had a 2 for 1 deal on tickets to a Swans game (we're going to the Lions match in May!) but you had to go to one of the box offices. Of course, when we got there, it was closed for the long weekend. Dammit.

We then went to Myer as I wanted to get a new pair of jeans (an exact copy of the ones I have that have faded too much for my liking) and ended up checking out the makeup counters. So much pretty stuff! We were both restrained though and didn't buy anything. We then looked at fascinators and I found an amazing one but couldn't justify spending $300 on it considering I go to the races once or twice a year.

We had lunch at Pontoon and got the most disgusting cocktails we've ever had. It is the only time I've ever left more than half a cocktail. Seriously thought I might throw it up.

Robyn was craving fudge so we headed across to Harbourside to visit the Fudge Shop. Droool. The first pic was taken from the bridge that connects one side of Darling Harbour to the other.

Pic below is of fudge being made. Looks like it was the maple pecan fudge.

Day 224: April Fools Day!

Surprisingly no one tried to trick me this year, so I was very happy! I am really gullible and always fall for things, you think I'd learn after all these years.

Today kicks off the long weekend and as the weather was rather miserable, I spent most of it inside having a BH 90210 marathon! I had forgotten how many horrible things happened to that group of friends.

After a fabulous relaxing day, I made the dinner you see above. It was grilled Barramundi with a homemade passionfruit vinaigrette, a mango salsa and some salad.

Day 223: Easter presents

Hooray for a super long weekend!

I met up with my friend, Lesley, from my old work and we went for a walk after work. I need to get out and walk more but have no motivation on my own. She bought me some cute little Easter eggs which was a lovely surprise.

When I got home I had a package waiting for me from Jen. It was some stuff I had left at her place in Brissie last time I stayed there and she made this cute Easter card for me! I love handmade cards like these, so adorable (even if the bunny is a little scary looking hehe!)

The little fluffy & glitter bunny is actually a hair clip which I had intended to wear to work but I forgot to take it. Booo.
