Day 222: He's a sucky person!

I nearly cried watching the trailer for the next, and last, season of The Hills. The first part of the trailer was a recap of the past five seasons and it was quite emotional looking back on a whole heap of important storylines in a short space.

The big turning point in the series came from the moment above where Lauren tells Heidi how much she hates Spencer. I think most people hate Spencer!!

It will be interesting to see what happens in this final season and if they bring Lauren back for any of the episodes.

The trailer for next season of The City is out now too

Day 221: Rum & Coke

Yes, I AM from Queensland lol.

Anna, Fiona and I went to the Rag & Famish for a couple drinks after work today. No reason, we all just decided that we needed a drink! I love spending time with the girls, they're both really fabulous people!

Day 220: Floorwarming!

I made these cupcakes to take to my fabulous friends' floorwarming party. The gorgeous house that my friends Damien and Dan have purchased settled today so a floorwarming was in order!

I know that most people would have waited til they moved in, but the boys love a good party and as they have plans to do some major renovations to the house, they wanted us to see what it looked like before they totally transform it.

The boys have great taste so I cannot wait to see what they do with it!

Day 219: Brunch at Delicado Foods

The lovely Robyn and I met up for a walk and brunch this morning. We usually have dinner once a week or so, but decided we'd give brunch a try!

We walked for about 40 mins before settling on Delicado Foods in McMahons Point which I had heard good things about.

The staff were friendly (and good-looking IMO but R disagreed) but changing any of the options on the menu was not possible which was frustrating considering we had only asked for tomato to be removed from scrambled eggs.

I had an omelette with chorizo, spring onions and manchego cheese as well as a fresh mixed fruit juice (apple, guava, orange, maybe something else). Both were fantastic but I couldn't help but eye off the Spanish baked eggs that people at the table next to us were eating. Will have to order that next time!

This is a magnetic wall that the few kids that were there had a great time rearranging the letters around on.

Day 218: Cake box

This is where I store all my cake decorating stuff. It's a huge mess and I need to go through and organise it better. Sharing an apartment with two other people means space can be a bit tricky, which is why everything is in a box rather than having a dedicated shelf in a cupboard.

I'm going to sort through it over the long weekend and group things together in smaller boxes to make it a little easier when I'm looking for a tiny icing tip or mini decoration cutter.

Day 217: Sunset

Sydney really is beautiful. Took this pic of the sunset at Milsons Point during my semi-regular walks down there. It's always relaxing looking out over the harbour and helps me to wind down after work.

Day 216: Bubblewrap

This is the kinda thing that happens when I go out for lunch!! Those bitches!!

To get them back I have been popping the bubblewrap alllllllll afternoon. Serves them right!

Day 215: Dinner at Bazaar

I caught up with Robyn for dinner tonight and we went to Bazaar Beer Cafe in St Leonards/Crows Nest (Im not 100% sure where the border is)

We say outside which was nice but I probably wouldn't do it again as the tables are a little low to the ground so it made sitting a little uncomfortable and I ended up crossing my legs under the table as it was the most comfortable haha. I'm not even that tall!

Service was decent enough but not great, and our meals were sever really quickly. All the mains have a recommended beer listed in the menu. I got the Hunter Schnitzel and a Czech Cut beer. Wasn't too fussed on the beer but my meal was lovely and seemed really fresh. You know how sometimes when you get schnitzel it seems really heavy and cooked in old oil? Well this was the opposite to that!

Food servings are huge so we didn't get entrees or dessert, and I didn't manage to finish my beer either.

I'd definitely recommend trying this place if you're in the area. I plan on going back with a group of friends soon.

Day 214: Midnight Blue

After a query from Teegs of http://polishproject.blogspot.com/ asking if I knew any navy blue shimmer/sparkle polishes, I instantly thought of my favourite navy, Midnight Blue by BYS. I was just going to swatch it, but have decided to leave it on. I really do love navy and it always features in my winter accessories (and mani's). There are a number of beautiful navy's available but our of the two I have tried, this is my fave (I also tried OPI's Russian Navy which I think may have been labeled incorrectly as it came out a lot more purple than navy)

I know that they don't have the same name, but I've had Icehouse's Electric Blue in my head since I put the polish on hehe. In case you don't know about this gem of a song, I suggest you watch it below.

Day 213: curly to straight

I have naturally curly hair ( it's been shown in a couple other blog posts) and a lot of people are genuinely surprised about this fact as I ghd it straight 99% of the time.

The first pic is my hair after it has been washed, brushed put up in a bun, slept on and dried naturally. In other words, it is substantially curlier when I purposely want it to be curlier. When I want curls I wash it, brush out any knots then add some shine mousse to it and let dry naturally.

This pic is after about 20 mins worth of ghd-ing. Huge difference! My hair is really thick so I need to do lots of smaller sections in order for it to stay straight.

I don't use any heat resistant products when ghd-ing (I knooow) and the only thing I use on it afterwards is a small amount of glossing serum.

I've owned a ghd for about 5 years now and have no idea how I lived without it!

Day 212: Alice In Wonderland

Perfect way to spend a Sunday arvo when you're feeling a little seedy is to go to a movie & drink frozen coke. Anna and I went to the Orpheum at Cremorne to see Alice in Wonderland, but as the Orpheum is a gorgeous old school theatre there were no frozen cokes. Booo.

One of the things I love about the Orpheum is the adorable piano player who comes on to play before the previews start. It really is a throw back to the way cinemas used to be.

As for the movie, I thought it was fabulous! I had never actually read the book or seen the original movie (I knoooow...) so had nothing to compare it to. For me it was more about the stunning imagery, costumes and makeup than the plot, which a few people have said was a little thin. Everyone is different though and are looking for different things in the movie so it's understandable that there have been very mixed reviews.

Day 211: A night with the Andrew's

That's right. Andrew's. Plural.

Saturday night was hilarious! First up I met with Anna and Damo to head to the lovely Andy's birthday at Tonic in the Cross. I've known Andy for about 3 years now and it was kinda weird to think that he is now 30 (I still have a few years to go!!)

There were a few people from the company I used to work for (Andy still does - sucker!) and it was great to catch up with them all. I've always said the best part about my old job was the people and I still keep in regular contact with a lot of them.

Lots of cocktails were had (Pinky di Winky's were my drink of choice - pineapple, mint, raspberry, vodka - divine!) and it was a really fun night. Annnnd I finally got to see B again who I for some reason have an unhealthy obsession with lol. Can't even begin to explain why!

D and I left to catch the last train back to the northshore and I am sooooo glad that we did! It was one of the funniest train trips I've ever had, where D and I met the cheeky Andrew C from the Shire.

AC was singing rip rip woodchip, smacking D on the ass, telling us about a welding injury to his eye, and generally being an extroverted exhibitionist ;-)

Andrew's, thank you both for making it such a fabulous night that my friends have had many laughs about over the next few days!

Day 210: Well, I didn't go to AH...

But I did visit some other stores to see what they had to offer! I had to pick up my Internet USB thingo and as I was walking out I spied a cream cloche in Forever New! I seriously nearly wet myself with excitement! And even better that it was cheap. Yewww! Cream is one of my fave colours and I couldn't resist this cute cloche as I have been looking for one since buying 1 from Forever 21 (I think it's been mentioned in another post). I also picked ip this light pink/peach scarf & a pair of silver earrings, tho I have misplaced the earrings somewhere.

Also couldn't resist some girly jewellery from Equip. The necklaces were 2 for 1 and the bow ring was too cute to leave. All the jewellery suits my personal style (if you can call it that lol).

Clothing wise I picked up a black cropped jacket and a little black bolero (back is shown in pic) that has sequins along the top of it. As I don't like having my arms exposed, I an always wearing boleros so I love that this one gives it a more dressed up/nighttime spin on my plain black ones. I didn't really need the belt but I thought it was cute and I don't have any in patent leather (I think... Hehe)

Day 209: Must Resist!

Why when I decided to have a shopping ban for 3 weeks does the world work against me?

I got a call this morning advising that my Internet USB that I broke was ready to be picked up from the provider who resides in a major shopping centre!

I then get this lovely text from Alannah Hill (and an email!) advising that they have 20% off today!

Conveniently, the shopping centre that I have to collect my USB from is across the road from Alannah Hill. Dammit.

Day 208: Pastel pens

These are the pretty pens I have at work, all lovely pastel gel pens. I love them as I have lots of nicely coloured post-its that normal blue pen doesn't show up well on (and I hate using black pens, little fact for you all) but these look gorgeous on.

I particularly like the marble swirly ones as you never know what colour you'll get.

When I get back to the office I'll write some post-its yo show you just how pretty these pens are.

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Day 207: Dinner at South

I've blogged about South before but it is such a good restaurant that it warrants a 2nd post! I went there with the sane group of people as last time too.

First pic is the ribs!! This (and the chicken wings) are the main reason people go to South. They are the best ribs I've ever had (yep, better than Hurricane's at Bondi). Pic shows the full rack, but I only had half a rack and it was plenty enough (also stole a couple of Kev's chicken wings hehe)

This is my lovely friend Helen enjoying the ribs!

And this is the ribs after they had been attacked.

Day 206: Cleo Bachelors

So I heard (saw?) on Twitter this morning that Cleo's Bachelor issue was out, so I picked up a copy at lunchtime. I also grabbed Grazia cos it was on sale for $3.

I also ducked into Officeworks to grab a sharpener for a colleague as they're always using mine, and a pastel green gel pen to add to my pastel gel pen collection.

Since I was already in the foodcourt, I figured I may as well grab some rice paper rolls for lunch. Awesome!

Sunday, March 14, 2010

Day 205: Shopping purchases

Just random stuff this time, nothing exciting really.
Baby stuff
Shampoo
Batteries
Mini screwdrivers
Wrapping paper
Juicer
Pencils
Nailpolish hot pink NYS & lavender from sportsgirl
Headband from sportsgirl.
Empire Records DVD
30 Rock s1 DVD (thought I had a burnt copy but couldn't find it)

Saturday, March 13, 2010

Day 204: Brunch at DBW

I Met up with my friend S today for brunch at Drink Better Wine in North Sydney. I'm not actually sure how long DBW has had the cafe/wine bar open but it's been a bottle shop for a number if years (still is). When S suggested we go there I was keen as I'd heard only good things about it.

I definitely wasn't disapponted! The service was great and the food arrived quickly. I like not having to wait long! Could have been due to the fact that there weren't many ppl there, but I wasn't complaining! Not surprising there were only a few other people there, North Sydney is a ghost town on the weekends.

The food was really tasty but I accidentally ordered pancetta instead if prosciutto. The meal came with smoked trout but I'm not a fan so asked to swap, which they had no problem with.

If you're in the area it's worth checking out one morning.

Day 203: Miley & Remember Me

Sorry for the crap quality of this pic but it was taken in the cinema on my iPhone. I'm having internet dramz so have to blog from my phone which is a pain, as is transferring pics from my camera to laptop to iPhone.

After having drinks at work I managed to convince Damo & Dan to go to a late movie sesh with me. We had decided to see either Dear John or Alice in Wonderland. We ended up seeing Remember Me lol.

The previews showed Miley's new movie, The Last Song, which I am really excited for!!

I knew nothing about Remember Me so went in with no expectations and was happily surprised. I thought it was a fantastic movie and really enjoyed it. The story is loosely about a bad boy who dates a girl to get back at the girl's father and they end up falling in love. Of course the girl finds out at some point which creates drama, but that was to be expected. The guy has a troubled relationship with his father and is very protective of his younger sister.

Because I knew nothing about it, for me there was a big twist towards the end, although I'm sure if you'd read or seen a preview you'd be aware of it. Anyhow once it clicked to me what was happening I couldn't look away from thd screen, waiting to see how the twist would play out and how it would be shown. I was scared it was going to be graphic but thankfully not and was handled with sensitivity.

It's not a tearjerker of a movie but definitely quite gritty, heavy and sad. Not usually something I think I'd enjoy but I thought this movie was fabulous.

Day 202: Puggells!!

Hey there cuties!! I went shopping tonight (I do really love Thursday night shopping!) for nothing in particular and stopped by the pet store to see what they had in the windows and was stoked to see they had these cute little puggells!!

I first saw puggells (at the same peg store) over a year ago and have wanted one ever since. As soon as I'm in a position to do so, one of these little sweetiepies will be mine! I know a lot of people have issues with buying animals from pet stores, and I will definitely check with the RSPCA first to see if they have any puggells in the pound before purchasing, but my heart is set on puggells and a pet store may be my only choice.

Day 201: Lunch with the boys!

So this pic is all about me, but you've got no idea how hard it is to try take a self pic of 4 people on an iPhone. I tried a few times and this was as good as it got!

I met up with Damo, Dan & Andy for lunch at the Firehouse which is pretty much where I meet everyone for lunch during the week. Dean also joined us briefly for a quick catch up.

Always great to see these guys, and they were all a huge part if what I enjoyed about my last job . I miss not seeing these guys everyday, but it does mean that I appreciate them a little more when I do see them. Awwww.

Day 200: Fuschia Lipstick

I bought fuschia lipstick yesterday after having wanted it for ages but being too scared to try it. No idea what I was so worried about, I loved it!

Wearing bright polish takes a lot if effort tho and lips need to be in good condition so that the lipstick looks as smooth as possible. When wearing a bright colour, I'd highly recommend wearing a matching lipliner. I didn't buy it when I got the lipstick as I wasn't sure I'd ever wear it. I know I'll definitely be wearing it more often now, LOVE IT!!

ETA: I've since bought the matching lipliner as well as a similarly toned nailpolish from BYS.

Monday, March 8, 2010

Day 199: Turkish Bread & Dips

Today I finally went for a walk with one of my friends from my old work and as she had quite a while to wait for her train home, we grabbed a drink at a cafe & shared some dips. I can't remember what any if them were but they all tasted great. I think we'll need to plan our walks to time in with her train better as it kinda defeats the point if we end up sitting down & eating junk afterwards lol.

Sunday, March 7, 2010

Day 198: Shopping at Macquarie

Sometimes I get a little bored of Chatswood so venture to Macquarie Centre to check out the stores there. I can get a bus right outside my house, but it seems that I missed it (despite being early to the bus stop) so I caught the train instead.

Since I'm on a spending reduction (not ban!) I only bought 1 thing for myself! And it was more than 50% off. And it had frills. And a free belt. And I had a store voucher. So you know, totally justified. It was a black Basque cap-sleeve dress that had ruffles at the neckline and a stretchy belt that goes with it.

Asides from that I bought a bracelet for E for her bday and a Jolly Jumper for my bro & his gf (E)'s baby! Baby is still 6 months away but Target were having a sale so I figured I may as well grab one.

Saturday, March 6, 2010

Day 197: Playlist

Here is today's playlist. I've pretty much been in bed all day (ugh headaches) so have either been sleeping, watching more of The OC, or reading and listening to this playlist. It's been on my iphone for about a week now but might need to add a few songs soon.

It's a totally random list but you know, that's how I roll.

Friday, March 5, 2010

Day 196: curls and pink

So the bright pink pashmina ruined all the soft pink goodness I had going on but it was damn freezing in our office (as per usual) and my  (well toponcho its being called around the office. Its a tank with a poncho style layer over the top, but whatesvs) just didn't cut it.

The point of this pic was to show my curly hair. It's rare that people see and when they do no one ever believes its natural. I hate the thought that people think I deliberately try to make my hair look this way! Gross!

Work was, well, work but afterwards I had dinner with Anna & Fee in McMahons Point and then went to see Valentine's Day (again!) at Mosman. Was a fun night out in the rain. I loved the movie just as much the second time around. So cute!

Thursday, March 4, 2010

Day 195: Ed Hardy

This store makes me feel physically ill.

SPEW.

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Day 194: Clouds

After the last few days of rain, it was nice to finally get a little bit of sun and blue sky.

Took this pic walking home from work. The walk perked me up a bit as I had spent most of the afternoon trying not to fall asleep at my desk.

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

Day 193: Chicken Tonight

There has recently been some discussions on twitter about one of our opposition to Chicken Tonight sauces and the fact that they are being used in some cooking classes (seriously!). Anyhow, I obviously didn't use a CT sauce, but I did have chicken tonight for dinner.

Clearly, I'll never be a Masterchef when it comes to presentation, but I was really happy with how dinner tasted. I made sweet potato mash and a chicken breast stuffed with ricotta, tomato, basil, pinenuts and a herb mix. I gave it a light coat of a brown sugar, lime juice, ginger and chilli marinade I made and popped it in the oven for 30 mins or so.It's really easy to make and something I plan to make more often.

Monday, March 1, 2010

Day 192: The OC

I've been off sick today and have slept most of it, however this afternoon I busted out season 3 of The OC, which is one of my fave tv shows of all time.

Before The Hills, Laguna Beach, The City and Gossip Girl, The OC was the show that started my obsession with trash! For a lot of people my age, it started with 90210. I enjoyed it, but was never addicted.

Early on, I wasn't a fan of The OC and thought it was super lame, but Jen and Fi convinced me to give it a go and I soon fell in love (particularly with Seth!). Wonder what would have happened if I'd never joined The OC train?
