DEPARTED

Well kids I got a bit over the blogging thing and had a mini break. I'm now back with a new blog at http://thesundaysesh.blogspot.com/ so be sure to come check it out!

Realistically, I shouldn't have started round 2 of the 365 blog. At first I was all super pumped to get into it, but I should have just been happy with the completing the challenge of the first year, as after it was gone, it felt like less of a goal to achieve and therefore slightly less important. It was fun while it lasted, but now you'll have a fresh blog without the boring bits (well, at least not so many of them hopefully!)

2.52 LC Style

Today I finally got my hands on Lauren Conrad's Style book. I had thought I bought it on Book Depository but it turns out that I didn't. Odd. Anyway, that meant I could duck down to my local Dymocks at lunchtime where they thankfully had one copy left!

On the walk back to work I could not resist picking up some Hainanese chicken rice. I have only seen it at one place in North Sydney and they only sell it on Wednesday and Friday. It was a perfect way to spend the lunchbreak.

Btw, I have finished LC's third LA Candy novel, Sugar and Spice, and I have to say that it is my favourite book of the series! I think it was mainly due to a good chunk of the book being about my favourite Laguna/Hills boy Stephen Coletti (or Stepheeeeeen as Kristin would say!)

2.51 The Situation

I was home sick today (so over it) but it turned out to be a good thing as I got to see The Situation get dunked on Ellen. Good times!

2.50 Surprise Card

Today I got thus cute card from my friend Mellie as a 'just because' to brighten my day, and it definitely did! What a sweetheart Mellie is!

She had put glitter in it which would have gone everywhere but I saw some of it on the sticky tape on the envelope so I had some warning hehe. Cheeky!

2.49 Ali & Jason's Wedding

Today I attended the beautiful beach wedding of my friends Ali and Jason. I first met Ali about 3.5 years ago when we were working at the same company and she definitely made the workplace a much brighter place. Ali is one of the most positive, sweet and enthusiastic people I have ever met.

The wedding today was beautiful and was filled with lots of love and sunshine. The rain cleared up for their beach ceremony, and Narrabeen Beach was a stunning backdrop for their nuptials.

The reception that followed was just as beautiful and many tears were shed during the speeches. After the formalities were over, the dance floor was the place to be! It was such a fun wedding and was the perfect reflection of Ali and Jason's personalities.

I am so happy for the both of them and can't wait to share more of their lives with them.

2.48 Radio Cairo

I decided to end Vegetarian Week a couple days early so that I could go to dinner with Damien at Radio Cairo.

I've wanted to go to Radio Cairo for ages but have just never got around to it. As I'm trying to try new places, and neither of us had been here, it seemed like the perfect place. The restaurant was packed when we got there (we could only have an early booking and had to be out by 8.30) but the waiters and kitchen staff were very efficient so it didn't take long for our food to arrive.

I had read a couple of reviews and almost all of them said to try the Cajun Popcorn, so we did. It was small pieces of shrimp in a light batter served with an apricot sauce. It was absolutely delicious!

We shared two mains of Blackened Snapper and Morrocan Lamb. Both dishes were great but my favourite was the lamb, which was possibly the most tender, juicy lamb I've ever eaten. It's no wonder this place was packed!

Afterwards we went to Bravo in Crows Nest for dessert. I had Mars Bar Crepes which were great as always, however the service was pretty bad tonight.

I am looking forward to going back to Radio Cairo. Even though I've said I want to eat at new places, it is definitely worth going back to!

2.47 Geoff Huegill

What an amazing achievement for Geoff Huegill, winning a gold medal in the 100m Butterfly at the Commonwealth Games. Nice work Skippy!

2.46 LC's Sugar and Spice

I make absolutely no secret of my love for Lauren Conrad, I think she is fabulous! This is her most recent book release, the third in the LA Candy series. She also has a style book coming out which I have ordered through Book Depository.

Im excited to start reading Sugar and Spice and hope it was as good as the last one.

2.45 Carb Overload

Keeping on the vegetarian theme, tonight I made potato pizza for dinner. It is one of my favourite pizzas that I have ever made. Seriously, sometimes the simplest things really are the best.

Unfortunately it's still a bit cold for the dough to rise as much as it should, but the base was still really nice and light.

All that is on the pizza is mozzarella cheese, potato, drizzle of olive oil, garlic and basil.

2.44 Pumpkin Risotto

Some of my friends brought to my attention that October 1-7 is International Vegetarian Week and suggested I give it a go. Being someone who eats meat at least once a day, every day, I was quite apprehensive but thought it would be an interesting challenge.

Due to some social commitments that it would be too late to request vegetarian meals at, I am only doing it for 6 days and from October 4-9.

Tonight I made a pumpkin risotto which was absolutely delicious! I had never made risotto until about 4 weeks ago at my parents' place but now I am addicted to it. It is so much easier to make than I thought it would be.

2.43 Shopping

Long weekend!!! Loves it!

I've spent a lot of the weekend shopping and watching movies. Yesterday I saw Easy A and today I saw The Other Guys. Both were good movies but neither were as funny as I expected.

The pic is of my shopping adventures:
New jeans
Shoes for Gracie
Photo frame
Satin clutch
To do list for work
Meal planner
Paris Hilton's New BFF DVD

2.42 Grand Final Day

Phil Jamieson performing with You Am I was the only enjoyable thing about the GF! The Dragons are my most hated team, mainly due to some of their supporters. Yuck.

2.41 Ali's Hens Party

Tonight was my good friend Ali's hens party on Wild Boys Afloat. I had some reservations about WBA and was expecting gross oily tandoori old men but, generally speaking, I was pleasantly surprised! Some of those boys were fiiiiiiiine!!

Everyone had a great night but thankfully not many of the photos have surfaced yet hehe.

Love you Ali!! Cannot wait for the wedding next weekend.

2.40 The Deck at Luna Park

After work today a few of us walked down to Milsons Point to enjoy the fabulous 2 for 1 cocktails at The Deck bar. It's pretty rare that places do 2 for 1 cocktails on a Friday and with the amazing views of the Harbour Bridge, it seemed like the perfect spot to unwind and kick off the long weekend.

After drinks we may have had a walk through Luna Park to stand in front of those silly mirrors that change your proportions hehe.

This is the view from our table with no zoom on the camera. Stunning right?!

2.39 Ali's wedding lunch

My friend from my old work, Ali, had a lunch today to celebrate her last day before going on leave before her wedding (there will be wedding & hens party photos coming up over the next week).

The table was decorated with these cute little scatter things that ended up being thrown in peoples hair. I did take a pic of Ali and I but it seems to have deleted itself (or I am going blind). Weird.

It was lots of fun to see Ali and hear all about the wedding preparations. Can't wait for the wedding next week!
