Day 313: 30 June

These things, plus my iPod, were my BFF's today. What a freakin day!

Day 312: Entourage

Season 7 kicked off today in the US so as soon as I got home I downloaded it. First ep was a great way to start the new season, so much to look forward to!

Turtle is looking even more fine than normal! And Eric & Sloane - love them so much. So happy they got back together at the end of last season.
Ari is still my fave tho, I wish I was as badass as he is! This pic is actually a postcard I bought from the HBO store in NYC - we all need to get our Ari on sometimes!

Day 311: iPhone iOS4

I freaking love it!! Cannot wait for my new iPhone, it's going to be the bomb!

Here is a pic of my 11 pages of apps (yes, really) all organized into cute little folders on one page.

Day 310: Brunch

Today I had brunch with my lovely friend Robyn. We had planned to check out a new bakery/cafe but as they had a quite limited range we went next door to Crow Zone Cafe. I had a ham & mushroom omelette. It was alright but nothing to rave about.

Day 309: shopping

I had a day where I pretty much did nothing today. After having a 2 day work week last week, I was exhausted after working 5 full, long days in order to make sure everything is prepared for June 30. I've never been in a role where June 30 impacts me much so I'm a little scared that I'm really under prepared.

After a lazy morning I of course headed to the shops. I pretty much only bought homewares. I really like the cake stand and have wanted one for a while. Looking back at the pic I realized I forgot to take a pic of my Escada perfume (this is my third bottle of Sentiment - I adore it) and didn't take a pic of the new work dress I bought. It's black, kneelength, faux wrap and not too low cut. Love it. Might post an outfit pic one day.

Day 308: Present from Siany

One of my gorgeous friends, Siany, sent me a present today. Yay! I love getting things in the mail, it makes me very happy. Even when I know what I'm getting, it's still exciting to open the package.

Siany combined my three great loves - shopping, trashy gossip & tv, and nails. It's the perfect present for me. I absolutely love it!

Day 307: Repeat dinner

As I've been lazy I'm writing a few of these posts in retrospect so I apologize for the lack of details on things that have been happening.

Tonight I caught up with a friend for dinner at Capitano's and had this fabulous pasta which I have blogged about before no doubt. I pretty much get this dish everytime I go there.

I did a little bit of shopping tonight as well but nothing overly exciting to report back on.

Day 306: Sephora

This is the stuff my friend got me from Sephora. Cute right! I told her not to get me anything as another friend had just been to the US and bought me a heap of stuff.

Day 305: everyone hearts Mel!

So today was pretty damn awesome! A major project I've been working on was all tied up & had all its documentation signed off! I was a very happy camper & so was my boss who bought me 2 bottles of wine. Thanks R, you rock!

I also caught up with my friend Lesley who had been to the US and bought me presents from Sephora! I cannot even begin to explain how much I heart Sephora. Part of the present was a cute set of OPI Havana Nights polishes which I'll blog about later when I swatch them all.

Day 304: World Cup Lollies

I haven't used my lolly dispenser from Dylan's Candy Bar in ages so when I grabbed these World Cup themed lollies, I thought it would be perfect.

I bought the dispenser at DCB when I was in New York last year. It's a mini version of how all the lollies are sold in store. It's super cute & I make everyone use the little scoop that came with it, which really annoys them as you get about 4 m&ms per scoop haha. Too bad so sad mofo's!

Day 303: Vivid Sydney

The pics pretty well speak for themselves. Vivid Sydney has been on for a few weeks now and tonight was the last night so I thought I should go see it. The lights were really interesting and there were a lot of ppl walking along the trail.

You can see some better pics at www.vividsydney.com.au

Day 302: The Hills

I woke up with a little hangover this morning (boooo) and was really tired from the hectic week I've had so spent majority of the day at home just chilling out.

I had 5 episodes of The Hills to catch up on which made me very happy. It's nowhere near as good as it used to be but I still love watching it for all the drama.

Day 301: Hi Sonya!

My friend Sonya was in town for a few days so I took the day off work today to hang out. Yay!

We met early in the morning (sometimes I'm still asleep at that time - it's great living so close to work) and had breakfast at a cafe in Galleries Victoria (I think it's called Cafe Rossi) which was really good. We then headed to Paddington to get our shop on. I was restrained and surprisingly didn't buy anything despite seeing an amazing swarozski crystal necklace that reminded me of a Bulgari one I fell in love with years ago. I didn't get it tho as I really had nowhere to wear it- it's really only black tie function appropriate.

We headed back to the city to meet up with the gorgeous Val for lunch and to check out her secret beauty supply store - it was like heaven!

Sonya and I then caught the ferry to Manly. I've never caught the Manly ferry & was kinda shocked that it was $13 return. It's not that much but def more than I expected. It was a beautiful day on the Harbour so I'm glad we went across.

Afterwards we headed to meet up with Frances, Robyn and Bridget for cocktails in the Cross and started at the roofbar at Kings Cross Hotel. I'd never been in as I thought it was some dodgy pub but it's actually really quite nice and they do a fabulous passionfruit cosmo!

We made a quick trip to SugarMill before heading home. Sadly, there were no interesting events on the train home like last time I was in the Cross lol.

Thanks girls for a fabulous day!

Day 300: Pink Guava

I've spoken on here before about my love of the American frozen yoghurt chain, Pinkberry. I've tasted a few Aus versions and none of them have even come close to the amazingness that is Pinkberry. Until now.

I present you with Pink Guava! It seriously tastes the same as Pinkberry. Divine!

I've just googled them and apparently they only have one store, which just so happens to be in my local shopping centre (hello Chatswood Chase!)

Day 299: Origin 2

GO QUEENSLAND!!!
yes, the mighty Queensland Maroons have won their fifth series in a row! Hells mofo yeah!!

I watched the game tonight with Damo & Dan who were lovely enough to make dinner. Yay! I wasn't feeling up to going to the pub so a night in was perfect. After seeing the score though, I wish I had been out celebrating.

Good to see a bit more aggression from the teams this game ;-)

Day 298: Playground

This is my brother and I hanging out in a playground. That's how we roll.

Day 297: wandering around Brisbane

I spent most of today just wandering around Brissie. It was nice to be able to spend some time on my own in a place I love being. I don't get to do it nearly enough.

I started with a walk around Southbank where there were lots of kids events as part of Out of the Box. Those events spilled over into the art galleries which were my next stop.

I am in love with GoMA. It's such a wonderful addition to Brisbane and has some really great exhibitions (my favourite was the Andy Warhol exhibition). I was going to see the Ron Mueck exhibition but the line for tickets was huge & didn't seem to be moving very quickly so I gave it a miss and headed over to Queensland Art Gallery.

QAG still has the Hats exhibition which was really interesting to see. I took some photos but didn't realise that you weren't allowed to. Ooops! I better not post them on here but they are on my fb if you're lucky enough to be fb friends with me hehe.

After the art galleries I walked across to the city and stumbled upon these balls of wool. There is a knitting project going on in Bris at the moment with many objects around the city being covered in knitted items. Pretty cool.

This is the pretty sky that was around for the day

Day 296: Lunch with the non Bellas

So as not to offend anyone (lol) I now refer to these girls as "the most awesome people you will ever meet"!

I met up with these pretty ladies for lunch at Mecca Bah which is part of the Emporium complex in the Valley. I love Mecca, they do some really fantastic Middle Eastern food. I ordered this amazing mocktail which I'll have to try recreate at home. It had pineapple, apple, orange, pomegranate, lime, lemon and something else I can't remember.

I had the roast lamb with rocket & sumac yoghurt pizza today as everyone always raves about them but I always tend to have 1 of the tagines or the garlic chicken & cous cous dish. I wasn't disappointed with this at all!

I couldn't resist trying the chocolate & Turkish delight brownie - it was divine but very dedacant (lol!) and despite sharing it, it didn't get finished.

After lunch Mellie and I went to see SATC 2 at Portside. The cinemas there are so plush and beautiful. Much better than the normal crappy seats. I really liked the movie the second time round and still can't work out why critics disliked it so much.

How pretty are mine and Mellie's nails!

Thanks girls for such a lovely day xo

Day 295: Heading home

I had to come home to Brisbane this weekend to attend a funeral. Even when it's not for the best reasons, there is something very comforting about coming home. I love the whole process of it too, packing things and getting to the airport, getting on the plane and then finally touching down in Brissie.

This pic is of the train tracks at Wynyard while I was waiting for the airport train. I was hoping to see a rat (I've no idea why but I always look for them at train stations) but it was just the tracks today.

The flight was extra fun today as my friend Dan was one of the flight attendants! I booked flights as soon as I knew I had to come up and then checked afterwards with Damo to see if by chance Dan would be on my flight - and he was!! Somehow Damo & I managed to keep it a secret from Dan and I got to surprise him when I got on the plane. He was pretty shocked hehe.

It was so weird watching Dan go through the safety demo, I kept laughing! He was a star host though and is such a smiley, happy, friendly person which is really great to see when you're in such a confined space with a lot of people. I hope you all have the pleasure of flying with Dan some day.

Day 294: Chillin with Damo

My awesome friend, Damien, and I decided to go to dinner at South tonight which I have raved about a number of times before. I seriously love this place, the staff are friendly and the food is always fantastic.

Afterwards we stopped in to Damo's old apartment so I could have one last look before it goes up for auction in a couple weeks. We've had many fun times there, and it's a super cool place with all these little touch screen panels to control lights, heating & even music. Love it!

We then headed to see Get Him to the Greek which we both really liked but I was expecting it to be much funnier than it was.
For those of you Sydneysiders looking to buy an apartment and want to live on the lower North Shore (who wouldn't!) check out Damo's place which has just been put on the market

Day 293: Thursday shopping

No surprises that I went shopping again. Addict much?! The good news is that I only spent $50 and got a ring, necklace, earrings and a dress. If it had all been full price it would have been $250. Spending money to save money!

The two stores I got everything from, Diva for accessories and City Chic for the dress, have both recently undergone revamps and are looking very cool. Diva has tried to go for a more upmarket look which I find quite odd considering it's sister store Lovisa is basically an upmarket/grown up version of Diva.

In honour of the World Cup (I expect to have a lot of early mornings in the coming weeks) there was a foosball type soccer thing on at the Westfield. Looked like fun!

Day 292: Magazines

I love magazines. Even though I know that I can get most, if not all, of the information online, I still prefer to grab a glossy hardcopy that I can cart around with me for a week and flick through it whenever I get the chance before putting it under my bed and forgetting it exists. Yes, I do confess to rarely reading more than maybe 10% of the content. Yes, you may think this is a waste of time but as Bobby Brown, and subsequently Britney Spears would say, that's my prerogative.

I really like the Masterchef magazine, much more than other cooking magazines I have bought over the years. It has a range of dishes, gives step by step instructions (masterclasses) on some of them, has travel and wine info, restaurant reviews/promo info and, of course, celebrity chefs! it's definitely worth checking it out.

I need to dispose of some of the magazines I have acquired over the years. I've no idea why I keep them, I never go back to them for anything (with the exception of the cooking mags)

Tuesday, June 8, 2010

Day 291: Up in the clouds

We finally got some sun today! Nice work Sydney! You were still bloody freezing though. I can deal with sunny and freezing though, the three weeks of cosntant rain and grey skies was really starting to get to me.

I was walking to work this morning and saw this collection of clouds - doesn't it look like a face making a shocked expression?? Clouds, I was shocked that the rain was gone too!

Monday, June 7, 2010

Day 290: World Cup Cupcakes

My lovely friend Robyn was having a Workd Cup themed morning tea at work and asked me to make some appropriate themed cupcakes.

Cute right?!
I'm working on trying to be a bit neater but generally I was happy with them

Day 289: Happy Queensland Day!

Yay for Queensland! More importantly, yay for Queenslanders!

6th June marks the day that Qld broke away from NSW and formed its own state. Definitely deserved a little celebration at my much loved Cabana Bar with some fruity tropical cocktails and great friends. Perfect! (ugh except for the rain that hit mid afternoon)

Saturday, June 5, 2010

Day 288: Slow Saturday

I woke up with no freakin voice today. The horror!

I had a slow day at home with a super quick trip to the shops in the afternoon, mainly for groceries, but I did pick up 2 cute headbands.

This is what I made for dinner- pork loin cutlet, bacon, sweet potato mash, brocolini and balsamic glaze.

Friday, June 4, 2010

Day 287: SATC2 & Papaya Thai

I went to dinner at Papaya Thai in Cremorne and then to see SATC2 with a group of 9 girls plus my favourite gay! Good times!

Huge props to Papaya - the food was absolutely amazing With great, speedy service. It really exceeded my expectations, especially as the restaurant was jam-packed with rain soaked patrons.

I didn't take many pics as the food didn't last long enough hehe.

I've read a lot of really negative reviews about SATC2 but I don't really get why they were all so disappointed in it. It's not like you go in expecting it to be a life changing movie. I really quite enjoyed it and, as cheesy as it sounds, it really was like catching up with a group of friends you haven't seen for a while.

Btw big high fives to Dani who joined me in taking off our shoes to run through a huge puddle! We had to do it to cross the road as it was flooded. We got soaking wet anyway, but it was really quite fun!

Day 286: cupcakes & SATC1

My lovely friends, Anna and Fiona had a few girls over to their place tonight to have dinner & watch SATC1 in preparation for us all going to see SATC2 tomorrow night. Weeee! Cannot wait!

Was lots of fun gossiping, drinking wine, eating pizza, watching the movie and having these musk cupcakes for dessert. I love musk flavoured things and used to love the fudge store at Cararra Markets on the Goldie as they did an amazing musk flavoured fudge.
