Day 70: New nailpolish!!

So, Friday was a super awesome day for me with 3 packages of nailpolish waiting for me at the post office! YAY!! I love nailpolish and I love all of these colours. Last night I painted each of my nails a different colour (I got a base coat as well, tho it was supposed to be a top coat dammit) just to test them out. Swoooooon!!!

so left to right, pinky first:
Essie Sexy Divide
China Glaze Ruby Pumps
China Glaze Limbo Bimbo
Essie Guilty Pleasures
OPI Conquistadorable Color

Apologies for the dodgy paintwork, I couldn't be bothered fixing it up and I took it all off as soon as I was took the pic. Now to decide which one to wear! I currently have one coat of Guilty Pleasures on (it was late and I couldn't be bothered waiting for 2 coats to dry) but will prob change to Essie Sexy Divide as I am in love with purple atm, and I think it is a colour I can get away with at work, whereas Ruby Pumps is a bit WHOA! love it!!

Unfortunately, as much as I love Essie colours, the formula is a little too thin, as are the brushes. Maybe I have just gotten too used to the OPI Pro Wide brushes, which I hated at first but now love.

Day 69: Cracks in the ground

I went for a walk and to Milsons Point and took this pick at the ferry dock. Not sure what it is, but I love this photo. It's simple in a way, but I also kinda find all the cracks and grooves in the wood quite fascinating.

I need to start walking down that way more often, so many fantastic photo ops and just a gorgeous place to hang out.

Day 68: Sergeants Mess

On Wednesday night the gorgeous Robyn invited me to attend a function with her that was run by Executive PA magazine. The function was to be held at a new Sydney functions venue called Sergeants Mess at Chowder Bay. This place is seriously stunning. It's gorgeous, modern and funky but manages to not have an ounce of pretentiousness (not sure this is a word, but just go with it).

We got a water taxi there (FUN!!!!) and the weather was gorgeous so perfect for sitting on the deck and looking out over Sydney Harbour.

Check out their site and some other gorgeous photos at www.sergeantsmess.com.au

Day 67: What's inside...?

Woohoo, a Kinder Surprise!! I haven't had one of these in years. My late uncle, Stephen, used to buy them for me and my little bro all the time and we always used to have fun putting together the little toys.

This time I got a little memory game hehe. So cute, but I wanted something that I had to put together! The chocolate tastes worse than I remember, I have a feeling I just convinced myself I liked it as a kid cos I was always so excited to see what the prize was and there was no point buying it if I didn't eat the chocolate.

Day 66: Shut up and put your money where your mouth is...

What I wouldn't give to be waking up in Vegas tomorrow morning!
This is a dodgy collage thing that I have up on my wall of pics I took while overseas for christmas and NYE (I actually took about 1200 photos haha, so this is a small selection).
The month I was away was one of the best times of my life and I loved exploring somewhere new on my own, doing my own thing and taking in all of the amazing sights (umm Christmas in New York anyone?? LOVE).

I did Vegas for NYE and it was amazing! There really aren't enough words to describe how incredible that place is. I met some fantastic people there too, some of whom I consider to be good friends now (also met a lot of lovely people in NYC!)

Along with the pics there are my 2009 glasses, happy new year and dice beads, and a little sombrero I bought in Mexico.

Seriously cannot wait to get back to the US!!

Day 65: Trashy tv

So everyone who knows me knows that I have a dedicated and undying passion for trashy tv. It is my true weakness and something I just cannot get enough of. And if its a reality show, then all the better!

As today has been rainy and miserable, I have indulged in a little trash. Today's choices have been Keeping Up With the Kardashians and BH 90210. Perfect!!

Day 64: Umm... WTF??

haha, I was being stupid yesterday and decided I had to take a photo of me with curly hair (and a duckface!) cos very few people have ever seen it or believe that my hair is naturally curly. Well, here it is suckers!! I straighten it everyday (the GHD will be a post very soon I think!) but I was giving it a bit of a break this weekend as it's starting to feel a little dry so spent the weekend putting moisturising masks on it and letting it be curly.

This doesn't happen often, so here is the pic. Excuse the stupid facial expression, no idea what I was doing!

2 x Nivea oxygen moisturiser
2 x cupcake sprinklers
7 x cupcake cases
sparkly gem clip/brooch
pastel clutch

pearl and black flower necklace

(will be another post next week because I'm waiting on more stuff in the mail and I might have maybe gone shopping yesterday!)

Day 62: Conversation Starters!

For those of you that have been to my house, you have almost guaranteed to be harassed into trying to play this conversation starters game with me! I can't help it! I love it but no one will ever play - until recently!! Yay!! I finally found someone who would give in and partake in this 20 questions type game thing.

I'm not sure why I am so obsessed with it, but I find it really intriguing to find out what peoples answers are and how my answers change all the time. It's basically just some random questions to help you get to know someone better (eg, fave colour, signature dish, what you're most proud of, earliest memory). There are 50 questions in this box (this is the Kikki K version, I am dying to get my hands on some proper Table Topics) and my lovely participant answered every one (minus one that I left out on purpose hehe). What a good sport!

Next time I invite you over for coffee, cakes and a chat - just remember, you have been warned!!!

Day 61: Fancy Elephants

The last couple times I have been to Taronga Zoo (in fact, the only 2 times I've been there since I was about 4 years old) I have bought one of these cute little sparkly elephants. Apparently ones with their trunks up are meant to be good luck lol. I bought one aaages ago which I had on my desk at work. Dousty named it Ellie! Either Dousty or Wecks were either throwing lollies or flicking rubber bands at me, and they hit little Ellie and broke his trunk!! Those bitches!!

So last  time I went I decided I needed a replacement, and couldnt decide between these two so got them both. They now sit, with their trunks locked together, on my tallboy thing which houses all my crap. That will prob be a photo of the day very soon!

ETA: Actually, I just remembered, it was a red pen they threw! Fun times back on level 2!

Day 60: Pretty flowers

I love having fresh flowers in my room (obviously I choose ones that don't smell too much otherwise I would suffocate!) and when i saw these ones, I absolutely HAD to have them. I love anything purple, and the bright blue looks fab all mixed in together.

No idea what they're called, if you know, feel free to fill me in. Actually I wonder if there is a website with all different types of flowers so you can locate them via a pic and find out its name? Hmmm, I'll google it!

Day 59: The story behind that tattoo

ok, so I have a tattoo on my left wrist of an M (oh look, you can see it in the pic!) which I got for my 25th birthday. I have always wanted a tattoo there (stars when I was younger, then decided I didn't want one) and thought I should commemorate reaching 25 years. There were a couple of times there where it was a little doubtful that I'd make it.

So I got over wanting a tattoo for a while and didn't think about it, but then after going through what was possibly the worst period of my life I felt like I needed something to remind me to stay strong and that if I could get through everything I had in my past, then everything in the future would be a breeze (well not quite haha). It's super lame I know, but I thought everyone time I looked at it it would remind me that I didn't need anyone else and that the only person I should really rely on was myself. Not because there is anything wrong with other people (well not all of them!) but jsut that I needed to be in control and not make excuses for things.

To be completely honest, it hasn't really changed anything! But I was looking at it over the weekend after having a bit of a tantrum about some stuff and I was reminded why I got it. Who cares if that girl was talking shit? If the person she said it to believes it then they're not worth my time anyway. I started to get too caught up in someone else and was upset when they weren't doing what I wanted them to. I totally forgot that I don't actually NEED anyone else.

So this is the last of the emo posts. I'm actually feeling really good today, no more drama as the great Mary J would preach!

Promise to be much happier and sunnier and positive tomorrow.

Mel xx

Day 58: It's all about strategy

Ok, so I always know something is up with me when I get an inkling that I need to pull out this album and crank it. Today was one of those days. Whenever I'm sad, this is the perfect music to let me wallow. it's strangely comforting and has been my go to music for 12 years now.

SFK always remind me of mid-late teens and some wonderful people I was close friends with back then. I think there are really 3 bands that have been 'big' to me and been a part of my life for a long time - SFK, Grinspoon (who already have a post on this blog) and Powderfinger (who will no doubt be getting their own post soon with the release of their album in November.

My fave song from this album is Strategy. Not sure why, but something about it speaks to me.

Strategy - SFK

what's wrong?
nothing, nothing
an unwelcome reception to the million dollar question
a reflex reaction
right back at you
it's your face, it's that same blank expression
you can blame it on the weather
or blame it on tension but
there's no rest from this paralysis
strategy
it's all about strategy
not what you're telling me
what you're telling me
you eat, you sleep and you breathe
and you tick off your list of personal needs
at night for protection you hide under a sheet
and we try to avoid confrontation
but everything we do just gets lost in the translation
and you're not helping yourself any
strategy
it's all about strategy
not what you're telling me
what you're telling me
i've found that descriptions are useless
nothing but the combination of words and numbered pieces
just assume that there is good reason for everything
so, what's wrong?
it's nothing again
nothing's what you've got when everything leaves you thought
that asking would get you somewhere
some fool you were (x2)
strategy
it's all about strategy
not what you're telling me
what you're telling me
memory
you say it's my memory
you say that my memory's bad
well i remembered that
didn't i? (x2)

Day 57: More baking!

So yesterday I totes got my bake on! I bought the AWW Cookies, Cupcakes, Cheesecakes book recently (it's featured in another photo of the day) and absolutely had to try out the pink macarons (well, they call them macaroons, but I am pretty sure it is meant to be macarons, like the cute little french version, not the gross coconut chunk ones).

I had heard that these little babies are pretty easy to screw up, so was a bit anxious, but thought hey, the worst that can happen is that I waste $5 on ingredients and throw them out. The best thing is that I have bragging rights to making these awesome macarons!

So turns out, I got somewhere in the middle of that! The macarons are supposed to bake for 20 mins, and they looked ready at this point so i took them out of the oven to let them cool. I tried to get one of them off the tray and it was still quite wet, so I put them back in the oven for a few mins (5 to be exact!). Only prob was, I had alreayd turned the oven up by 40c to make cupcakes (they're coming up next!) so my pretty pink macarons turned a slight peachy type colour from a little browning.

They're too crumbly, though the bottom part is very chewy and they are all around delicious!! it's just that they don't present so well. Next time I will leave them in for 25 minutes at the low temp (140c) and see how they turn out. I am determined to get them right. But yeah, seriously, they taste amaaaazing!

Next up was vanilla cupcakes which someone had been harassing me to make. I use the Magnolia recipe (or uhh sometimes cheat and use the cheap 65c Woolworths vanilla cake which tastes almost identical to Magnolia - today I did the hard yards).

So here we have vanilla cupcakes with plain vanilla buttercream in some pretty black and white cases.

Day 56: Kaleidoscope Eyes

So I'm at home on a Friday night (have had a killer headache for the past 2 days so didn't feel up to going out, need some rest) and suddenly realised that I hadn't taken a photo today. I was looking at www.scrangie.com yesterday and saw a pic of really colourful eyeshadow and thought 'hey, I have stacks of bright eyeshadow, I should do that too'. Yes, I am a copycat!

Anyway, the colours are pretty much the same, but I mixed up the order and added eyeliner and blah blah blah. Totes different!

Looking at the pics I've realised that the gold on the outer edge towards the brow doesn't look blended at all but it does IRL. Weird, but I think it might just be that my eyes aren't usually open as wide as they are in the pic, nor do I try to stretch my brow as high.

Products used:
UDPP, MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack, (from inner corner, up and around...) Urban Decay Honey, Red Earth orange, Inglot pink, Inglot irridescent purple, Urban Decay Ransom, MAC Grand Entrance (highlight), Inglot aqua blue, Glamour Doll Eyes Shamrock, Glamour Doll Eyes Electric Lemonade and Stila choc brown to fill in my eyebrows.

This is all a bit different from my usual day to day look:

Day 55: I would have voted for Barack

So I was going to pick up the mail this afternoon, when I came across this sticker in our apartment block - "I voted - Presidential Election - 2008". So random and I had never ever seen it before. it's still in good quality so I'm assuming it has only just gone up. I am wondering if the person who put it there really did vote in the US election and, if so, who did they vote for?

I am a supporter of Barack and what his goals/ambitions are for the US. I know a lot of people think he has been a bit underwhelming in what he has done so far, but I truly believe he has the right vision required to not only run the US, but also influence other countries around the globe.

Day 54: American lollies are the bee oh em bee

Yep, you heard it here first kids, I loooove chocolate and lollies! I was at a store that sells American snacks and couldn't resist (actually my bro wanted something and I was after peanut butter sprinkles but they didn't have any so felt bad walking out empty handed hehe)

When I first went to America 15 years ago, I fell head over heels for Butterfinger bars. They are just so damn good. Hard peanut brittle ish type peanut butter covered in chocolate - what is not the love? Chocolate and peanut butter is just sucha  damn good combo.

Twisted brought a huuuuuge smile to my face - Cadbury Creme Eggs ALL YEAR ROUND!!! Woohooo! So, it's obviously not egg shaped, but still has the CCE goodness that I love. Wondering if this will take the shine off them though? Not quite as special if it's available all year round.

Lastly, we have Pop Rocks. Not sure these are American specifically, but I've got no doubt they originated there. I'm not actually a huge fan of the candy itself, but it reminds me of someone and a NERD song that I love - "you're my pop rocks, you're my cotton candy, when the beach is hot and sandy, you're my water" Awww.

Day 53: Sunsets over the beaches, from now on

ok so this pic totally wasn't taken at the beach, but in a street near my house. I was walking along to the train station in my own little bubble when all of a sudden I noticed how damn pretty the sky was! I just wish I had been on higher ground to get a clearer pic.

The other exciting thing I saw on that walk was a lady pushing a stroller with a kitty in it hehe. Very cute!

So the reason for the title is the Powderfinger song Sunsets, which anytime I ever hear the word 'sunset', I can immediately hear Bernard Fanning crooning the first line and it always brings a smile to my face. New Powderfinger out soon, yeeewwwww!!! Fave line from that song is this one: "sunrise building a reprise, in my heart". Ahhh Bernard, if you happen to read this - I LOVE YOU!! For real.

Powderfinger - Sunsets
Sunsets over the beaches, from now on
Each day looking for new ways, to go on
Maybe I should drop by maybe I should have called
Maybe I should have followed you and beat down your door
Maybe it's gonna be breaking you every time you fall
But to shower you with pity will do you no good at all, no good at all
Slow burn watching the world turn, from my arms
New way of measuring each day, until it's gone
Maybe I should drop by maybe I should have called
Maybe I should have followed you and beat down your door
Maybe it's gonna be breaking you every time you fall
But to shower you with pity will do you no good at all, no good at all
Sunrise building a reprise, in my heart
Regret tight around my chest, plays its part
Untill it's gone
Untill it's gone
But to shower you with pity will do you no good at all, no good at all
Now we're watching the sunset, sunset, sunset, sunset
Over the beaches, beaches, beaches, beaches
Watching the sunset, sunset, sunset, sunset
Over the beaches, beaches, beaches, beaches
Watching the sunset, sunset, sunset, sunset
Over the beaches, beaches, beaches, beaches
Watching the sunset, sunset, sunset, sunset
Over the beaches, beaches, beaches, beaches

Day 52: I had the best day with you today

YAY!!!!

Got to see my dad and my little bro today when they were in Sydney! They have been here all weekend in Bathurst watching the big car race (apparently it was awesome cos Holden got 1st, 2nd, and 3rd) so they came to spend the day with me today. Was so great to see them!

We just had lunch down at Darling Harbour and chatted for ages about random stuff. I miss getting to spend time with them and it's definitely one of the reasons I want to head back to brissie.

Turns out my Dad and stepmum  might be moving in TWO weeks!! They have a cool new job opportunity to own their own business in another part of Qld which is really exciting for them. My first reaction - where am I going to spend christmas?? hehe. My parents are heading to NZ on xmas day (boooo) and are gone for a week. I usually stay at their place and sit on the beach with their two dogs for the entire time on there, but now they'll be moving, there will be no more beachy holiday. Sucks! But, I'm super happy that they're doing something that they want to. yay!

So this is a silly pic of us, my eyes are all squinty and dad and Matt look silly, but oh well! Love them to bits!!!

Day 51: Red Velvet Cupcakes

I've eaten a few red velvet cupcakes before (mainly in New York), but never actually made them. This was my first attempt and I am pretty damn happy with them!

I used a recipe from a fabulous site called Tasted By Two - www.tastedbytwo.com which I found simply by googling. The site has some good recipes and really great reviews of Sydney restaurants. The direct link to the recipe is here - http://tastedbytwo.com/2009/06/23/recipe-magnolia-red-velvet-cupcakes/

I made the cupcakes following the recipe exactly, however changed the cream cheese frosting and ended up adding about 4 cups of icing sugar so I could get the icing more stiff in order to pipe it. Also, it means the cream cheese forms a really soft crust which I looooove! Too bad if noone else does haha, on cream cheese frosting is the the bee oh emm bee (or, bomb for those who aren't cool enough to spell out their words like I do hehe).

They taste fabulous and made 28 big cupcakes! Whoa! I think I will halve the recipe next time, cos that is just way too many for what I need. So now I will take a batch to my bitches at NDY in the morning and then take the others to work on Tuesday (I have tomorrow off cos my dad and bro are in town)

Couldn't resist doing a Masterchef style presentation spectacular lol. Who the hell smashes up a cupcake to serve it?? Well apparently the Masterchef team and now ME!

Day 50: Annabelle Maisy

awwww, such a little sweetheart! I instantly fell in love with this little one. She is the second daughter of my dear friends Dan and Rose. They have another little daughter Madi who I also adore, but she didn't come to visit me yesterday as she was hanging out with her grandma. For those of you on my FB, you will see that little Madi has her own photo album cos I love her so much!

I met Dan and Rosey through working at NDY. Dan started about 2 weeks before I did and we instantly became friends. He puts it down to the fact that he is from the country and I am from Queensland - very similar types of people, and definitely different to those from Sydney. Dan and Rosey lived 2 blocks away from me so I was always visiting, especially after they had little Madi. I remember the first time I babysat Madi and had a huuuuuge freakout cos she held her breath for a few seconds. Holy shit, worst 10 seconds of my life. Thankfully she was ok.

Dan, Rosey and Madi moved back to Maitland (all their family is from that area) about 18 months ago. Annabelle was born 8 months ago and this weekend was the first time that I saw her. Hard to believe it has been so long, and I really regret not getting up there sooner. When Annabelle was born, there were a few complications and the poor little thing was in hospital for 9 weeks. Was touch and go for a while, and I remember crying my eyes out at work when I found out. Thankfully she is perfect now and will have no future problems! YAY!! I wanted to wait til she was home from hospital to see her, then thought I would let everyone settle down and suddenly it was 8 months later. Time passes us by waaaaaay too quickly unfortunately.

Day 49: Counter Burger

Man I love Counter Burger! With over 312,000 combinations of burger, sweet potato fries and the most amazing peanut butter milkshakes I have ever tasted, this restaurant is a fantastic addition to the Crows Nest area (the Grill'd up the road is a just a poor cousin imo).

Each time I go there, I am overwhelmed by the options. Do I want chicken, beef, veggie or turkey? On a bun, or in a salad bowl? What size (tho, I always go the 150, its big enough) Which of the 11 cheeses should I choose? Do I even want cheese at all? and so on and so forth. Making your own burger is heaps of fun and it means that you get exactly what you want every time.

On this one there is a 150g beef patty,  american cheese, beetroot, pineapple, mixed baby greens, corn&black bean salsa and bbq sauce. YUM!

I am always taking people to CB and everyone has loved it so far! Being the only one in Australia, it's a pretty novel idea to have a ticksheet to choose what you'll have on your lunch. And seriously, the peanut butter milkshakes are to die for!!

Check out the Counter Burger website here... http://www.thecounterburger.com/

BTW, I always cut my burgers and sandwiches into quarters. Deal with it!!!

Day 48: My room is clean!

Well kids, here is my room CLEAN. Yeah, so those of you who have actually been in my room are probably thinking "that's not Mel's place" well bitches, it is!! I do occasionally (read: rarely) put things away and pick the floordrobe up off the floor and today it is looking about as clean as it gets.

Boys always laugh at how pink it is, but they loooove it! haha. I have been thinking though that maybe I need something more grown up, maybe it's time to ditch the pink??? Hmmm, maybe for the new year I will do some redecorating. For now I will just live in my own little pink cotton candy bubble!

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

Day 47: I love baking

I had to go to the post office to collect something this afternoon and was walking past Essential Ingredient when some super cute spotted cupcake papers caught my eye! I had already bought some dark pink spotted papers when I bought my Cupcake Courier, but thought I would see what other colours they had. Turns out they only had a lighter pink and white with coloured spots - of course I bought them!

I also bought the Womens Weekly Cookies Cupcakes Cheesecakes book because I really want to start making cookies and decorating them all pretty like.

The other stuff is a collection of pretty baking items that I've bought in the last few weeks. Will be showing lots more from my baking box in the future!

Day 46: Floordrobe Snapshot

I am the worst floodrober ever! Half of my wardrobe lives on the floor I think but over the last couple days I have decided that this needs to change and have been hanging things up. I also decided to take pics of everything I own so that I have a bit more of an idea of what I own and what will go with what. So, here is a snapshot of some of the things that I own. I think this is maybe 20% of my wardrobe. Eeeek!!

Day 45: Somethin bout the way the street looks when it's just rained

It has been raining all weekend (yay for October Labor Day holiday!) which has been good and bad. See, I had big grand plans to do a bit of cleaning/life organising/shopping/90210 watching, so it worked out really quite well. I still would have loved at least one day of sun though, thats not too much to ask is it?

So I did all of the plans I mentioned, plus saw two movies - Julie & Julia and Valentino. J&J wasn't that great but Valentino was fantastic. It is amazing how much effort and detail goes into his dresses, they really are stunning.

Title was stolen from Taylor Swift's Fearless, love love love her!!

There's somethin' 'bout the way
The street looks when it's just rained
There's a glow off the pavement
Walk me to the car
And you know I wanna ask you to dance right there
In the middle of the parking lot
Yeah
Oh yeah

We're drivin' down the road
I wonder if you know
I'm tryin' so hard not to get caught up now
But you're just so cool
Run your hands through your hair
Absent mindedly makin' me want you

And I don't know how it gets better than this
You take my hand and drag me head first
Fearless
And I don't know why but with you I'd dance in a storm in my best dress
Fearless

So baby drive slow
'til we run out of road in this one horse town
I wanna stay right here in this passenger's seat
You put your eyes on me
In this moment now capture it, remember it

Cause I don't know how it gets better than this
You take my hand and drag me head first
Fearless
And I don't know why but with you I'd dance in a storm in my best dress
Fearless

Well you stood there with me in the doorway
My hands shake
I'm not usually this way but
You pull me in and I'm a little more brave
It's the first kiss,
It's flawless,
Really something,
It's fearless.

Oh yeah
And I don't know how it gets better than this
You take my hand and drag me head first
Fearless
And I don't know why but with you I'd dance in a storm in my best dress
Fearless

Day 44: Messssss

I love mess and I don't care! This is my bedside area which has so much crap around it. I can't help it, I just have too many things and not enough storage to put everything.

I've actually been thinking about the importance of 'stuff', I feel like I have way too much of it, but feel like I 'need' it at the same time. Am going to try to start culling stuff/not purchasing anything new (clothes included) til after Christmas. eeeek! Will see how that goes, but I don't give it much hope tbh.

Day 43: #wearing/doing/fotd

so on girly forums, you can pretty much guarantee that there will be two threads in existence 1 - wearing/doing and 2 - FOTD (face of the day)

So this is a brief version which is FOTD plus jewelery (was just wearing black top, black cardi, dark denim jeans, black flats)

In this pic is....
a gorgeous necklace I bought when I was in Melbourne in April
some earrings I bought when in Brissie in May (they were $5!)
MAC Studio Fix fluid foundation
Smashbox 2 in 1 luminizing primer (love this)
Australis eyeliner in black
Maybelline Colossal mascara (love this too!)
Inglot hot pink eyeshadow (used lightly as blush)
MAC Grand Entrance e/s
Glamour Doll Eyes Shamrock e/s
Inglot irridescent purple e/s
NARS Orgasm/Laguna - I just used a little of the Laguna bronzer

Had to add the twitter tag, because I am officially a twitter addict and love the twitter crew hehe.

Day 42: Kardashian wedding and rice paper rolls

I love a good celebrity wedding because more often than not they are these amazing extravagant affairs and can occasionally be a bit tacky. I've got to say, I was expecting Khloe Kardasian's shotgun wedding (she has been dating Lamar Odom for 4 weeks now) to be totally tackarama. But, I was really really surprised. Day 41: South

Dinner tonight was at South restaurant in Neutral Bay with some friends from my old work. Seriosuly, the food here is amazing! It's kinda american deep south/cajun/creole. Best ribs ever!! and they do an amazing pulled pork sandwich which I tried to replicate recently (did a pretty good job I think!!).
